Post-Wedding Reflections

My brain is in a state of post-wedding numbness. At church on Sunday, I talked to another mother whose daughter had married on Saturday and we agreed that we felt like survivors; we also agreed that we would take a Tylenol PM that night!

A good night's rest certainly helps one think more clearly, but I still feel as if the gears in my brain are not quite meshing. They've been running in wedding mode for so long that they grind when I try to shift to writing mode.

It takes intentional effort to put in the clutch and shift gears, and I'm making that effort.

Family members, however, will find a few more wedding pictures posted on my private blog. If you're interested in viewing that blog, contact me.

One Busy Week

It's been a big week! I bought a house for one kid and married off another!

On Wednesday, I bought a house on behalf of our son, Kirk, who was in Chicago on business. He didn't see the house until late Friday afternoon. I was relieved to hear him say, "I love it; I can't wait to move in."

Saturday was by far the best weather day out of all the days in the last two weeks. It was also the day my daughter, Ariel, married Nick. Since it was an outdoor wedding, we spent all day thanking our benevolent God!

Before the wedding, I fastened Ariel's necklace for her.

Ariel talked Nick's nephew, Luke, into a quick pre-wedding photo shoot with her.

My nephew, Jonathan, expertly played his violin at the wedding and reception, accompanied by his mom, Norma.
After the newly married couple shared their first dance, Dave and Ariel enjoyed a "father-daughter" dance.

The outdoor wedding was beautiful; the weather was perfect, and Pastor Chris had a good message. The reception was great fun with many people enjoying bowling and a terrific band.

We don't think Ariel could have gotten a better father and mother-in-law than Lee and Pat, and we rejoice to welcome Nick into the family as our new son-in-law.

May God grant Ariel and Nick every good and perfect gift as they live their lives together before Him!

Five Days and Counting

Only five days until my daughter's wedding! Lots of things scheduled this week, which I plan to enjoy.

And I signed up this morning for another crazy November of NaNoWriMo!
