Vacation Pix

Since posting vacation pictures on a blog is like inflicting home movies on the world, I will post only a few of our 271 pictures.

The butte picture shows the colors of the sagebrush, rock, and cloud against the backdrop of the deep blue mountain sky. Colorado National Monument was impressive and driving around the edge of the canyon on Rim Rock Drive was exhilarating. Another exhilarating experience was a snowstorm on top of Grand Mesa. Some aspens were beginning to turn gold.

Shrubs were turning brilliant fall colors at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The natural markings on Painted Wall look like two flying dragons.

We also drove south into the historic mining district between Ouray and Silverton and saw some real mountains--the rugged kind jutting above tree line with snow in the crevices.

Headed back that evening, after a lovely dinner of Rocky Mountain trout, Dave captured the glow of a spectacular sunset.
